Café Rouge Blackheath, hidden garden

Cafe Rouge Blackheath Hidden Garden Sign

If Café Rouge have got a sign outside the front, it’s not that hidden, is it? But it intrigued me enough to make me poke my nose in, and have a look.

Not that hidden garden in Cafe Rouge Blackheath

It’s small but quite nice – lots of parasols, and pot plants… Not much in the way of grass, but a nice enough spot on a sunny day, and quieter than the high street. I went in on a Monday just before lunch time, and whilst the restaurant itself was empty, the garden was quite busy with people. Asked for a citron pressé, but they’d run out, so made do with orange juice…

The hidden garden of Cafe Rouge is one of my favorite places in the village to eat – even moreso than the Princess of Wales’ garden, which is saying something.

One warning though: Mind the wasps!
