Blackheath’s shoe shop

Pares Footwear, Blackheath

There is a time machine in Blackheath. Not the Reminiscence Centre (more on that another time), but the Pares Footwear shoe shop. I would give you a link, but they don’t appear to have a website. If you’ve ever wanted to recreate the sensation of buying school shoes with your parents, then try this shop. Nothing has changed since I went to school.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The shop was quiet, large, had lots of space to sit down and try shoes, and seemed to have been frozen in time since the time when you used to worry about homework on a Sunday evening.

On the whole, if you are looking for sensible, well priced shoes, I would recommend it, apart from the thoroughly unnerving sense of being 6 years old again. And the great big signs saying “No Box, No Exchange” made me smile… Quite right too.Blackheath Shoe Shop Warning

  2. Thank you for this lovely little review. 6 years on and not much has changed only now we have our own website where you can purchase our shoes online.
